Port Security Specialist

Description

The position is a Port Safety and Security Contingency Preparedness Planner at U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam. The primary duties of this position are:

- The preparation and validation of plans for the prevention and effective response to all port safety, security and pollution contingencies for which the Coast Guard and maritime community are jointly responsible (ex. transportation security incidents and oil/hazmat spills)
- The preparation and administration of Area Maritime Security and Exercise Training Program (AMSTEP) and National Preparedness for Response (NPREP) exercises to validate the respective plans.
- The incumbent is an action officer responsible for Port Contingency Planning, including exercise planning in the Captain of the Port zone assigned.

This vacancy is being advertised under delegated examining procedures and is open to all U.S. citizens. The vacancy is being concurrently advertised under merit promotion procedures for status applicants under announcement 09-1447-WE-AF-M-R2. Status applicants are those individuals who are currently serving on a career or career-conditional appointment, individuals who are eligible for reinstatement, or individuals who are applying under the VEOA program. Applicants who wish to be considered under both delegated examining and merit promotion procedures MUST apply to both vacancy announcements.

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, 14th Coast Guard District, Sector Guam, Santa Rita, Guam.
